Flowers: rosy pink through pink to white often with a yellowish basal blotch.
Very fragrant.
Usually June/July.
Introduced: 1900 by Wilson from Sichuan.
Distribution: Sichuan, Hubei, Guizhou, Hunan, Anhui, Zhejiang 1100-2300m.
Recognise by: long glabrous (sometimes glaucous) oblanceolate leaves whose
underside appears smooth, glaucous and waxy. Late flowering with seven-lobed fragrant flowers.
Epithet: of various colours.
A splendid hardy late flowering fragrant large species. Prefers some shade and shelter.
